Funeral services for Mr. William H. "Bill" Smith, 72, of Gainesboro, Tennessee, will be held at 2 P.M. on Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community of Jackson County. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 10 A.M. - 9 P.M., and on Wednesday from 9 A.M until time of services. Mr. Smith passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2008, at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin, TN. He was born May 29, 1936, in Jackson County, Tennessee, to the late Tom R. Smith and Zaina Barlow Smith. On December 24, 1954, he was married to Ruth Katherine Smith, who survives. He was a retired lumber yard foreman, and a member of the White's Bend Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 Infant Brother. Survivors include his Wife: Ruth Katherine Smith of Gainesboro, TN; 1 Son and Daughter-in-law: Charles and Jeanette Smith of Gainesboro, TN; 1 Grandson and fianc: Tracey Smith and Christa Akers and her daughter, Kyah Akers, of Gainesboro, TN; 2 Brothers: Oral Smith of Gallatin, TN, and Rick (Gena) Smith of Gallatin, TN; Special Sister-in-Law: Joy Stewart of Gainesboro, TN; and 9 Sisters: Katherine (Doug) Thyberg of California, Annette Peters of Colorado, Nan (Roy) McConnell of Ridgetop, TN, Glenda Kizer of Ridgetop, TN, Shirley (Richard) Tuttle of Gallatin, TN, Janice (Bill) Johnson of Gallatin, TN, Carol (Gary) Brooks of Bethpage, TN, Irene (J.H.) Herndon of Gallatin, TN, and Bobbie Carter of Gallatin, TN. Bro. Steve Edwards, Bro. Roy McConnell, Bro. Fred Smith, and Bro. Beau Smith will officiate at the services.
