William Fred Birdwell

William “Fred” Birdwell, 74, passed away at home on Sunday, May 2, 2021, in Cookeville, Tennessee, after a battle with lung cancer. He was born May 15, 1946, in Jackson County, Tennessee to the late Velma and Odes Birdwell. Mr. Birdwell was a retired carpenter. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time on his farm and raising cattle. His surviving family includes his wife of 45 years, Pauline Foulks Birdwell; children: Sarah (Eric) Murphy of Avon, IN; Lynn (Hope) Eddington of Gainesboro, TN; Beth (Jeff) Peterson of Oakfield, TN; Michael Eddington of Cookeville, TN; Shane Birdwell of Paris, TN; and Andrea (Casey) Fox of Cookeville, TN; Grandchildren: Clay (Katelyn) Murphy, Betsy Murphy, Beth Ann Murphy, Jerry Eddington, Megan Jones, Hunter Eddington, Ciara Eddington, Dustin (Jennie Beth) Phelan, Sydney Phelan, Tori Eddington, Wesley Birdwell, Jaxon Fox, and Maddox Fox. Great Grandchildren: Leland, Rylee Sue, Faith, Kaylee, Abby, Jackson, Finley, Odin, and Salem; Brothers and sisters: Jasper (Arlene) Birdwell, Anna Mae (Billy Joe) Loftis, Bessie Lee Robinson, Donald C. (Marion) Birdwell, Litton B. (Jo Helen) Birdwell and Richard (Kathy) Birdwell. In addition to his parents, Mr. Birdwell was preceded in death by his granddaughter Rachel Eddington of Centerville, TN; brother James Birdwell of London, KY; daughter-in-law Linda Eddington of Algood, TN; and in-laws Bill and Ruth Foulks of Greeneville, TN. Services will be held at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Visitation 4:00 PM-8:00 PM Friday, May 7th and Saturday, May 8th 9:00 AM-11:00 AM with services to follow at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Union Hill/Flatt Cemetery in Bloomington Springs TN. Bro. Jimmy Anderson and Minister Kevin Daughrity will officiate the services. Pallbearers are his sons and sons-in-law. Honorary pallbearers are his grandsons and brothers.
