William Charles Goolsby

William Charles Goolsby, 74, was born November 6, 1949, in Putnam County, TN, and he passed away Monday, May 13, 2024, at his residence.

He was the son of the late Willis Loyd Goolsby and Frances Olivia Whitson Goolsby Jones. He married Betty Sue Curtis on November 28, 1970. They had two sons and were married for over 53 years. William worked as a construction worker and a farmer. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Gainesboro, TN. Also, he was a former Chair of the Jackson County Republic Party.

Survivors include his wife: Betty Sue Goolsby of Bloomington Springs, TN; Sons: William (Christina) Goolsby of Bloomington Springs, and Lonnie (Angela) Goolsby of Granville, TN; Brothers: Terry (Susan) Goolsby of Shelbyville, TN, Gary (Peggy) Goolsby of Murfreesboro, TN, and Johnny (Maria) Goolsby of Shelbyville, TN; Grandchildren: Cheyenne Goolsby and William Christopher (W.C.) Goolsby. Many other relatives and friends survive.

William was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Billy Wayne Goolsby and Kenneth Lee Goolsby.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024, at 4 P.M. at the chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Heady officiating. Visitation will begin Thursday from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M. and will resume on Friday from 2 P.M. until the time of services. The family has chosen cremation with a private burial at a later date.
