William Ray “Bill” Hufstedler was born November 29, 1950, in Rockford, IL. He passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN, at the age of 72.
Mr. Hufstedler was a Church of Christ minister. In 1969 he graduated from Harlem High School in Loves Park, IL. He received an AA Degree from Freed-Hardeman College in 1972, studied at Michigan Christian College and obtained a Bachelor's Degree from Lubbock Christian University in 1993. He was a resident of Gainesboro, TN.
He was preceded in death by birth father Stan Ross, adopted father Norman Ray (Joantte) Hufstedler, step-father Roger Board, mother Willene Board, brother-in-law Winward Dyer and sister-in-law Darlene Ross. There was also a great cloud of witnesses waiting at the pearly gates including his in-laws Dewey and Jewel Sisco and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Survivors include his dedicated and loving wife of 49 years, 10 months and 3 days: Joan (Sisco) Hufstedler of Gainesboro, whom he married on June 23, 1973; Daughter: Kara Marie (Beau) Smith of Cookeville; Grandchildren: Bella Marie Smith-Ingram, Joshua Carson (Crystal) Smith, Madden Ross Smith, Braxton William Smith, Caleb Ray Smith, David Elijah Smith, Ronan Ezekiel Smith and Nevaeh Marie Smith; Special granddaughters: Aurora and Aleena; Great-Grandson: Liam Wade Smith; Son: William "Billy" David Hufstedler of Gainesboro; Brothers: Ron (Connie) Ross of Florida, Shawn (Doris) Board of Texas, Cliff Hufstedler of Arkansas, Jim (Diane) Moore of Missouri, and Larry Board of California; Sisters: Vicki (Dale) Board-Adams of Illinois and Mary (Tony) Kane of Missouri; Special sister-in-laws: Hilda (Andy) Martinez of California and Peggy Sue Dyer of Cookeville; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be Sunday from 1 P.M. – 8 P.M. and Monday from 11 A.M. until the time of services. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 1, 2023, at 1 P.M. at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home, with Dr. Albert Lemmons and Bro. Phil Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Double Springs Cemetery in Putnam County, TN. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
