Graveside services and burial with full military honors (U.S. Navy) for Mr. William Benson "Ben" Wooten, II, 91, of Gainesboro, Tennessee, will be held at 1 P.M. on Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at the Rob Draper Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Monday from 5 P.M. - 9 P. M., and Tuesday from 11 A.M. until time to depart for the cemetery. Mr. Wooten passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2009, at his son's residence in Nashville, TN. He was born March 22, 1918, in Gainesboro, TN, to the late William B. Wooten I and Minnie Bryan Wooten. He was married to the late Frances Myers Wooten, who passed away January 17, 1988. He was a retired Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy with 30 years of service. He served during World War II and the Korean War. He was of the Methodist faith. He was the former Postmaster in Gainesboro and mayor of Gainesboro. Mr. Wooten was a former Jackson County commissioner, chairman of the Jackson County Board of Education, and Election Commission Officer. Survivors include 2 Sons: William B. Wooten III and wife, Nancy of Nashville, TN; and David Wooten and wife, Linda of Nashville, TN; 1 Granddaughter: MacKenzie Wooten of Nashville, TN; and his Cherished Pet Companion: Sadie.
