Ward Kemp

Funeral services for Mr. Ward Kemp, 87, of Whitleyville, TN, will be held at 2 P.M. on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11 A.M. until time of services. He passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at Unity Medical Center in Manchester, TN. He was born December 4, 1930, in Whitleyville, TN, to the late Fred Kemp and Pauline Kemp. On March 13, 1954, he was married to Lanita Parkhurst Kemp, who survives. He owned and operated Ward's Market from 1958 - 1997, and also bought and sold ginseng. He was an elder at North Springs Church of Christ, and enjoyed being a basketball referee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 Brother: Joe Kemp; and 1 Son-in-Law: John Willis. Survivors include his Wife: Lanita Parkhurst Kemp of Whitleyville, TN; 3 Daughters: Cindy (Howard) Parker of Manchester, TN, Sherri (Don) Willis of Hillsboro, TN, and Betsey Willis of Hillsboro, TN; 8 Grandchildren; 6 Great Grandchildren; 1 Brother: Kenneth (Louise) Kemp of Greensboro, NC; and 1 Sister: Peggy Dycus Pharris of Madison, TN.
