Funeral services for Mr. Vernon M. Ragland, 77, of Gainesboro, TN, will be held at 1 P.M. on Monday, June 4, 2018, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Granville Cemetery in Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 12 Noon - 8 P.M., and Monday from 10 A.M. until time of services. He passed away on Friday, June 1, 2018, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. He was born May 14, 1941, in Gainesboro, TN, to the late Willie Savage Ragland and Lettie Ragland. On November 2, 1963, he was married to Judy Faye Ragland, who survives. He served as Jackson County Trustee for 28 years, and was a member of the Gainesboro First United Methodist Church. He loved farming, and loved all of his family, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 Granddaughter: Molly Elizabeth Slagle; 4 Brothers: Fowler Ragland, Frank Ragland, Kenneth Ragland, and an infant brother; and 2 Sisters: Marie Pritchard and an infant sister. Survivors include his Wife of 54 years: Judy Faye Ragland of Gainesboro, TN; 1 Son: Michael (Kelly) Ragland of Cookeville, TN; 2 Daughters: Lisa (Garry) Loftis of Gainesboro, TN, and Teresa (Rod) Slagle of Cookeville, TN; 4 Grandchildren: Lindsay (Joey) Meredith, Brooke Loftis, Cassi Slagle, and Jackson Ragland; 3 Brothers: W.S. Ragland, Jr., Mack Ragland, and Wesley Ragland; and 3 Sisters: Frances Napier, Joann Calabro, and Lois Ray. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends also survive. Rev. Steven Lee and Rev. Tim Dunavant will officiate at the services. Pallbearers: Jackson Ragland, Joey Meredith, Rob Adams, Charles Mark Jones, Luke Cobb, Will Babb Honorary Pallbearers: John Willmore, Bobby Birdwell, Nick Owens, Raymond Fox, Carl Haile, Aaron Lee Jones, Hubert Flatt, and Melba Gore In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Stroke Association, Doyene Anderson Scholarship Fund at Gainesboro First United Methodist Church, or the Gainesboro Elementary School Library.
