Vera S. Brown

Funeral services for Mrs. Vera S. Brown, 67, of Gainesboro, Tennessee, will be held at 1 P.M. on Thursday, January 25, 2007, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in the Fairview community of Jackson County. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11 A.M. - 10 P.M., Wednesday from 9 A.M. - 10 P.M., and on Thursday from 9 A.M. until time of services. Mrs. Brown passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2007, at her residence in Gainesboro, TN. She was born January 6, 1940, in Jackson County, TN, to the late Marion O. Smith and Sally Casteel Smith. In September of 1956, she was married to the late Gene Brown, who passed away on December 18, 1999. She was a retired factory worker, and a member of the Harmony Church of Christ. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 1 Sister: Eunice Hall; and 2 Brothers: Floyd and Junior Smith. Survivors include 2 Daughters and Sons-in-Law: Wanda & Danny Scott of Gainesboro, TN, and Wilma & Chad Howard of Whitleyville, TN; 4 Grandchildren: Matt Scott, Joey (Elizabeth) Phillips, Carol Scott (and her fiance, Steven Phillips), and Jason Phillips; 1 Great-Grandchild: Jed Phillips; 1 Brother: Jack D. Smith of Gainesboro, TN; 2 Brothers-in- Law: Gene Hall and Taylor Brown; 6 Sisters: Eva Nell Fox, Mae Pharris, and Jo (Harlen) Poston, all of Gainesboro, TN, and Joyce Boles, Betty Smith, and Margaret Williams, all of Overton County, TN; and 2 Sisters - in - Law: Corrine Vradenburg and Lynda Brown.
