Funeral services for Mrs. Velma R. Smith, 88, of Gainesboro, Tennessee, will be held at 2 P.M. on Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Rob Draper Memorial Cemetery i n the Stone community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1 P.M. until 9 P.M. and on Wednesday from 10 A.M. until time of services. She passed away on Monday, April 16, 2012, at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, TN. She was born February 20, 1924, in Jackson County, TN, to the late John Parish Richardson and Buina Hamlet Richardson. She was married to the late George Morgan Smith. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Church of Christ. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 1 Son: Johnny Benton Smith; 2 Daughters: Willie Pearl Smith and Glady Jones; 1 Grandson: Ronnie Wilson Hicks, Jr.; 2 Brothers: Robert Odell Richardson and Joel Richardson; and 1 Sister: Willie Scantland. Survivors include 5 Daughters: Rose Keith of Cookeville, TN; Anna (Andy) Scott of Gainesboro, TN; Jo Boles of Gainesboro, TN; Georgia Bartlett of Cookeville, TN; and Mattie Lou Norris of Detroit, MI; 2 Brothers: Dalton Lee (Janie) Richardson of Gainesboro, TN; Ben Richardson of Gainesboro, TN; and 2 Sisters: Doris Chaffin Richardson and Dorothy Tubbs, both of Gainesboro, TN. 14 Grandchildren, 19 Great-Grandchildren, and 2 Great Great-Grandchildren also survive.
