Thurel B. Flatt

Thurel B. Flatt, 86, of the Center Grove community, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 26, 2022, at 2 P.M. at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Young Cemetery in the Center Grove community. Visitation will be Thursday from 12 Noon - 9 P.M., and Friday from 10 A.M. until time of services. Bro. Jimmy Anderson will officiate. He was born March 31, 1936, in Jackson County, TN, to the late Joseph Edward Flatt and Lucy Burroughs Flatt. He was married to Barbara Flatt for 19 years. He worked at the Jackson County Recycling Center, and was a member of the Center Grove Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his Wife: Mildred Flatt, who passed away May 1, 1999; Step Son: Danny Dean; Brother: Earl Flatt; Brother in Law: Glenous Haney; and Nephew: Dale Haney. Survivors include his Wife: Barbara Flatt of Gainesboro, TN; Son: Roger Flatt of Gainesboro, TN; Daughter: Patricia (Jason) Smith of Gainesboro, TN; Brother: Roy (Ann) Flatt of Gainesboro, TN; Sister: Lorene Haney of Gainesboro, TN; Step Children: Faye (Johnny) Pigg and Diane (Jesse) Pigg, both of Gainesboro, TN; Grandchildren: Jessica Flatt, Peyton Smith, Kelsey Smith, John Pigg, Jamie Stacy, Belva Kidder, Jack Kirk, Cindy Pigg, Jimmy Dean, Melissa Holmes, and Connie Christian; and 14 Great Grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Young Cemetery by contacting the funeral home.
