Thomas "Tom" Lasher

Thomas R. Lasher (Tom) - 68 yrs old of Gainesboro, TN, and formerly of Lowell, IN, was called to rest after his battle with cancer. He was born on September 22, 1949, and passed on August 22, 2018. Tom was survived by his two Daughters: Wendy Lasher of Orlando, FL and Tammy (Brad) Mooney of Dix, IL; Sister: Jo- Anne Engelke of Midlothian, IL; and Girlfriend: Carolyn Smith of Cookeville, TN. He was preceded in death by his Father: Thomas J. Lasher; Mother: Florence A. Lasher; Brother: Darrell Schofro; and Sister: Jean Manrique. Tom was raised in Chicago, where he met and married Sue Norton and started his family. He moved them to the country of small town Lowell, Indiana. He spent his life working as a pipefitter out of Local 597. He was a genius when it came to building things. He was also avid in energy efficiency and built an 85' tall windmill to help avert the increasing expenses of power. He also designed and, with the help of his daughter Tammy, built a boiler to heat their home. Tom and his motorcycle went hand in hand. He was a member of the GWRRA and GWTA as Director of Safety for many years, and put thousands of miles on traveling the country. Gardening was also one of Tom's many hobbies. After his girls were grown, he and Sue divorced, and he eventually retired and moved to the mountains in Tennessee. There he opened a greenhouse to sell produce from with great help from his special friend Carolyn. He will forever be in our heart, may he Rest In Peace. Visitation will be held at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home on Saturday, August 25, 2018, from 5 P.M. - 8 P.M. Services will be held at a later date at Sheets Funeral Home in Lowell, IN.
