Funeral services for Mrs. Thelma Smith Ramsey, 87, of Goodlettsville, TN, will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, August 31, 2016, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the New Hope Cemetery in the New Hope community of Jackson County. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M., and on Wednesday from 10 A.M. until time of services. She passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2016, at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, TN. She was born December 10, 1928, in Jackson County, TN, to the late John Quarles Smith and Mary Lola Poston Smith. On January 1, 1958, she was married to the late Cecil Ramsey, who passed away September 15, 2001. She was a retired cook for Metro - Davidson County Schools, and a member of the Porter Heights Baptist Church in Nashville, TN. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 1 Daughter: Lorette Barlow; 1 Sister: Beatrice Hix; and 1 Infant Brother. Survivors include 1 Son and Daughter-in-Law: Wayne and Bonnie Ramsey of Goodlettsville, TN; 1 Daughter: Paulette Smith Boord of Goodlettsville, TN; 3 Grandchildren: Angela (Andrew) Young, Ryan Ramsey, and Michelle Covington, all of Goodlettsville, TN; and 3 Great Grandchildren: Jessica Covington, Connor Covington, and Anderson Young, all of Goodlettsville, TN.
