Funeral services for Mr. Shirlie D. Denson, 77, of Cookeville, TN, will be held at 2 P.M. on Sunday, September 8, 2019, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Cookeville, TN. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4 P.M. - 8 P.M., Saturday from 10 A.M. - 8 P.M., and Sunday from 10 A.M. until time of services. He passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2019, at Smith County Health and Rehab Center. He was born October 6, 1941, in Jackson County, TN, to the late Dewey Denson and Rhoda Dudney Denson. He was married to the late Judy Mathis Denson, who passed away July 25, 2019. He was a factory worker, and served in the U.S. Army. He attended the Boma Church of God. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 1 Son: Tyler Denson; and 2 Brothers: Jerry D. Denson and Ewin L. Denson. Survivors include 2 Nephews: Joey (Tammy) Denson of Gainesboro, TN, and Jackie Denson of Durant, OK; 2 Sisters in Law: Joyce Denson of Gainesboro, TN, and Mary Lou Denson of Livingston, TN; 1 Great Nephew: Josh (Kim) Denson of Gainesboro, TN; 1 Great Niece: Ashley (Lance) Pirl of Gainesboro, TN; and Extended Family: Bob and Carolyn Mathis, Dewey and Sue Mathis, Jeff and Donna Mathis, Johnny and Cindy Mathis, and Ratford and Melissa Duke. Other family and friends also survive. Jimmy Anderson and Tim Sharp will officiate at the services. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice by contacting the funeral home.
