Funeral services for Shawn Jack Penley, 45, of Gainesboro, TN, will be held on Sunday, December 13, 2020, at 2 P.M. at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Allentown Cemetery in the New Salem community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 4 P.M. - 8 P.M., and Sunday from 12 Noon until time of services. He passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born September 15, 1975, in Somerset, KY, to Suzy Elrod Johnson and the late Herman Jack Penley. He worked in construction, and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by 1 Sister: Patty Penley Fellows; Grandmother: Merle Hawkins Horton; and Great Grandmother: Delia T. Elrod. Survivors include 1 Son: Brayden Webster of Indiana; 1 Daughter: Ashton Penley (Brandon) Brown of Sparta, TN; his Mother: Suzy Elrod (Dave) Johnson of Gainesboro, TN; 1 Brother: Kristofer Hollis Penley of Gainesboro, TN; 2 Sisters: Megan (Brandon Smallwood) Henson of Nashville, TN, and Tamara Penley Howard of Dayton, OH; 2 Step Sisters: Crystal (Mark) Hensley and Amanda (Charlie King) Johnson, all of Gainesboro, TN; and 1 Grandchild: Mallory Brown of Sparta, TN. Bro. Jimmy Anderson will officiate at the services. Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, the family requests that visitors please wear face masks.
