Sammie Lee Spivey

Funeral services for Mr. Sammie Lee Spivey, 85, of Gainesboro, Tennessee, will be held at 11 A.M. on Thursday, September 2, 2010, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Rob Draper Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community of Jackson County. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2 P.M. - 9 P. M., and on Thursday from 9 A.M. until time of services. He passed away on Monday, August 30, 2010, at Kindred Hospital in Nashville, TN. He was born November 4, 1924, in Jackson County, TN, to the late L.M. Spivey and Rosie Stafford Spivey. On July 24, 1948, he was married to Grace Spivey, who survives. He was a night watchman for the Jackson County Highway Department. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 Brother: Audrey Spivey; and 1 Sister: Christine Hollows. Survivors include his Wife: Grace Spivey of Gainesboro, TN; 2 Daughters: Shirley Cox of Cookeville, TN, and Brenda Anderson of Gainesboro, TN; 4 Grandchildren: Thomas (Cathy) Jones, Timothy (Peg) Jones, Steve (Kim) Scantland, and Stephanie Fox; 2 Brothers: Ralph (Louise) Spivey and Gene Spivey, all of Gainesboro, TN; and 6 Great- Grandchildren: Ashley Jones, Christopher Jones, Katie Fox, Cody Fox, Kendall Scantland, and Chloe Bryant.
