Funeral services for Mr. Roy G. Phillips, 83, of Cookeville, TN, will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, June 10, 2017, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the New Hope Cemetery in the New Hope community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4 P.M. - 7 P.M., and on Saturday from 9 A.M. until time of services. He passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2017, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born July 14, 1933, in Jackson County, TN, to the late Millard Phillips and Ova D. Phillips. On June 18, 1955, he was married to the late Thelma Jean Smith Phillips, who passed away October 11, 2011. He was a GM factory worker. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 3 Sisters: Daffo Allen, Effie Masters, and Jossie Smith; and 2 Brothers: Earnest Phillips and Odell "Boots" Phillips. Survivors include 2 Sons: Ralph Keith (Darcy) Phillips of Reno, NV, and Gregory Kevin Phillips of Cookeville, TN; 1 Grandchild: Chayton Phillips; 1 Sister: Frances Smith of Cookeville, TN; and 1 Brother in Law: Bob R. Smith of Cookeville, TN. Bro. Jimmy Anderson will officiate at the services. Memorial donations may be made to the New Hope Cemetery by contacting the funeral home.
