Roma Laughter Welch

Funeral services for Mrs. Roma Laughter Welch, 98, of Gainesboro, TN, will be held at 2 P.M. on Saturday, January 24, 2015, at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Welch Cemetery in the New Salem community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10 A.M. until time of services at the funeral home. She passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2015, at the Mabry Health Care Center in Gainesboro, TN. She was born June 27, 1916, in Tom, Oklahoma, to the late William Hariam Spillman and Nettie Lenora Edwards Spillman. She was married to the late James T. Welch, who passed away on March 4, 1983. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Gainesboro First Baptist Church. In addition to her Husband and Parents, she was preceded in death by the Father of Her Children: John Pershing Laughter, Sr.; 4 Sons: John Pershing Laughter, Jr., Jessie William Laughter, George Welch, and James Welch; 1 Grandson: John Pershing Laughter III; 1 Brother and 6 Sisters. Survivors include 1 Sons: Jackie Lee Laughter of Gainesboro, TN; 3 Daughters: Shirley Ann Webb of Atwater, California, Betty Hopkins of Cookeville, TN, and Mattie Spurlock of California; and 2 Brothers: Walter Edward Spillman of Denison, Texas and John Howard Spillman of Pottsboro, Texas.
