Robert Lee) Dudney

Funeral services for Mr. Robert L. (Bob Lee) Dudney, 94, of the Free State Community of Jackson County, Tennessee, will be held at 1 P.M. on Thursday, December 16, at Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Burial will follow in the family cemetery in the Free State Community of Jackson Co. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 3 - 9 P.M., and Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until time of services. Mr. Dudney passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 2004, at his residence. He was born November 3, 1910, in Jackson County, TN, to the late George Lester and Annie Patterson Dudney. Mr. Dudney was a retired federal employee and farmer. On June 29, 1939, he was married to Louise Upchurch Dudney, who survives. Mr. Dudney was educated in the Jackson County public school system and received his degree in agriculture from Tennessee Tech in 1936. He worked for the Soil Conservation Service for 35 years in Smith County, TN. While living there, he and his wife were members of the Carthage Church of Christ. Upon his retirement, they moved back to the home place in the Free State community of Jackson County where they were members of the Free State Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dudney was preceded in death by 1 sister: Blanche Dudney Fuqua; 1 niece: Anella Fuqua; 3 Brothers: Dr. L.R. Dudney, William Landon Dudney, John Lyman Dudney; and 1 Nephew: Clark Dudney. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Louise Upchurch Dudney. Also surviving are 2 sons and their wives: Larry and Kathy Dudney of the Freestate community, and David and Retta Dudney of Cookeville, TN; and 1 Grandson and his wife: Travis and Amy Dudney of Gordonsville, TN.
