Funeral services for Mr. Robert B. Birdwell, 90, of the Antioch community of Jackson County, Tennessee, will be held at 2 P.M. on Thursday, May 11, at Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Rash Cemetery in the Antioch community of Jackson County. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2 - 9 P.M. and Thursday from 10 A.M. until time of services at Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Mr. Birdwell passed away on Monday, May 8, 2006, at his residence in the Antioch community. He was born December 25, 1915, in Jackson County to the late Sewell Birdwell & Pearlie Medlin Birdwell. On April 17, 1937, he was married to the late Maggie Burgess Birdwell, who passed away on September 17, 1998. Mr. Birdwell was a farmer. He was a longtime elder of the Antioch Church of Christ. He served in CC Camp during the 1930s, and was a former county committeeman of the Farmers Home Administration. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 2 Infant Sons; 1 Son-in-Law: Kelley Jones; and 2 Brothers: Odes Birdwell and William Birdwell. Survivors include 2 Sons and Daughters-in-Law: Bobby & Phyllis Birdwell of Cookeville, TN, and Jimmy & Ann Birdwell of Gainesboro, TN; 3 Daughters and 2 Sons-in-Law: Stella & Lindel Anthony of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Peggy & Charles Sullivan of Cookeville, TN, and Dorothy Jones of Gainesboro, TN; 9 Grandchildren: Karen (Donnie) Lance, Lisa (Jimmy) Hartman, Michael Anthony, Robert (Emily) Sullivan, Mike (Diane) Birdwell, Susan (Robert) Turk, Lee (Joei) Birdwell, Amy (Ron) Baker, and Kim (Brandon) Jones; 11 Great- Grandchildren: Daniel, Jeremy, and Hannah Lance, Emma Grace Baker, Jessica and Alex Sullivan, Brawley Turk, Braden Jones, and Ashley, Jenna, and Gage Anthony; 1 Brother: Ermon C. Birdwell of Cookeville, TN; and 3 Sisters: Ola V. Fox of Bloomington Springs, TN, Nola Birdwell of Indiana, and Ila Mae Anderson of Cookeville, TN. Bro. Johnny Fox and Bro. Kenneth Anderson will officiate at the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rash Cemetery by contacting Upper Cumberland Funeral Home.
