Reba Moss Carnahan

Reba M. Carnahan died on September 5, 2019, at Belvedere Commons in Franklin, TN. She was born 4/23/1928 in Jackson County, TN, to Luther Moss and Lida Kendall Moss, fourth of five children on a self-sufficient hill farm. She graduated from high school there in Gainesboro, TN, and married Ralph Carnahan in Nashville in December 1948. Suddenly widowed in 1982, she lived alone thereafter in Columbia, TN, and then with her daughter in Maryville, TN, since 2013. She moved to assisted living in March 2019 due to advancing Alzheimer's. A lifelong member of the Church of Christ, she supported her minister husband and the education of her 3 children. She worked as a dental assistant to periodontists after they were adults. She was a devoted wife and mother, excellent cook and homemaker, faithful friend, and humble and quiet spirit. She enjoyed walking, attending church and singings, playing cards with her girlfriends in Columbia, and traveling widely with them. She loved her family and wad proud of their achievements. She is survived by one sister, Bonnie Moss of Donelson, a devoted nephew, James Edwards of Jacksonville, three children, Gary (Elizabeth) Carnahan of Mobile, AL, David (Marsha) Carnahan of Franklin, and Teresa (Walter) McClanahan of Maryville, and six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
