Ray Flatt

Funeral services for Mr. Ray Flatt, age 86, a resident of Gainesboro, TN, will be held Friday, March 21 at 1 P.M. at Center Grove Church of Christ in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Flatt-Woolbright Cemetery in the Center Grove community of Jackson County. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2:30 P.M. - 9 P.M. at the funeral home, and on Friday the body will lie in state at the Center Grove Church of Christ from 10:30 A.M until the time of services. Mr. Flatt passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at his residence. He was born August 7, 1921, in Jackson County, Tennessee, to the late Logan H. and Mary Elizabeth Johnson Flatt. On June 3, 1939 he was married to the late Celia Ann Fox Flatt who passed away on December 8, 1989. He was a farmer and a former custodian at Tennessee Tech University. He served for over 20 years as a county commissioner in Jackson County. He was a member of the Center Grove Church of Christ where he had previously served as an elder and song leader. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by 6 Brothers: Haskell, Ottis, Fred, Albert, Bert, and Clay Flatt and 5 Sisters: Dora M. Fox, Nora M. Williams, Elora C. Flatt, Bertha Flatt, and Amanda Flatt. Survivors include 4 Sons and Daughters-in-law: Jesse and Agatha Flatt of Decatur, Alabama, Alfred and Stella Flatt, Arvil and Mary Sue Flatt, and Harold and Vicky Flatt all of Gainesboro, TN. 2 Daughters and Sons-in-law: Donneitta and Bobby Johnson of Cookeville, TN and Charlene and Billy Clyde West of Bloomington Springs, TN, 17 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. 2 Sisters-in-law: Garnitta Flatt of Sparta, TN and Pauline Fox of Cookeville, TN. Survivors also include several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive. Bro. Jimmy Anderson and John Mabery will officiate at the services.
