Phyllis R. Atherton

Graveside services for Mrs. Phyllis R. Atherton, 72, of Gainesboro, Tennessee, will be held at 10 A.M. on Friday, July 14, at the John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community of Jackson County. No visitation is planned at the funeral home. Mrs. Atherton passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2006, at the Mabry Health Care and Rehab Center in Gainesboro, Tennessee. She was born May 1, 1934, in Eldorado, Illinois to the late Clifford Wilks and Opal Bowman Wilks. On October 16, 1954, she was married to the late Donald R. Atherton, who passed away on January 23, 1999. Mrs. Atherton was a secretary to the vice-president of Columbia Records. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 2 Brothers: Pete & George Wilks. Survivors include 1 Son and Daughter-in-Law: James A. and Lisa Atherton of Yorktown, VA; 1 Daughter and Son-in-Law: Janet and Kevin McQuillen of Newport News, VA; 5 Grandchildren: Sarah, Brian, Mathew, Maria, and Melissa; 1 Great-Grandchild: Daniel; and 4 Sisters: Mary Jo Davis of Gainesboro, TN; Sharon Sikorski of Grayling, MI; Donna Parr of Taylor, MI; and Barbara Hernden of Clarksville, TN.
