Paul W. Gabbard

Funeral services for Mr. Paul W. Gabbard, 87, of Gainesboro, Tennessee, will be held at 2 P.M. on Thursday, August 29, 2013, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. The family will gather at 2 P.M. on Friday at Deaton Funeral Home in Jackson, Kentucky, with burial to follow in the Gabbard Cemetery in Athol, Kentucky. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4 P.M. - 9 P.M., and Thursday from 12 Noon until time of services. He passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born February 8, 1926, in Duquesne, PA, to the late Bishop Harvey Gabbard and Dorcas Virginia Short Gabbard. On May 26, 1952, he was married to the late Gertrude Chrisman Gabbard, who passed away November 12, 2010. He worked for Ford Motor Co. for 32 years, and was of the Lutheran faith. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 1 Brother: Lee Alan Gabbard; and his Grandfather: Marrow Gabbard. Survivors include 2 Sons: Paul H. (Krista) Gabbard of Traverse City, MI, and John D. (Tammy) Gabbard of Gainesboro, TN; 2 Grandchildren: Justin P. (Vanessa) Gabbard and Kaitlyn Gabbard; and 2 Great Grandchildren: Jackson Paul Gabbard and McCoy Warren Gabbard. Bro. Jerry Young will officiate at the services.
