Olar V. Fox

A celebration of life for Mrs. Olar V. Fox, 99, of Gainesboro, TN, will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2020, from 2 P.M. - 4 P.M. at the Center Grove Church of Christ fellowship building. Graveside services were held at 1 P.M. on Sunday, April 5, 2020, at the Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Cookeville, TN. She passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2020, at Mabry Health Care Center in Gainesboro, TN. She was born May 17, 1920, in Jackson County, TN, to the late William Sewell Birdwell and Pearlie Medlin Birdwell. On December 24, 1938, she was married to the late Herman Davis Fox, who passed away January 6, 1986. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Church of Christ. She was a loving wife and devoted mother, and a faithful servant of God. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 3 Brothers: Robert Birdwell, Odes Birdwell, and William Birdwell; 1 Sister: Peggy Nola Birdwell; 2 Sons in Law: Hugh Sircy and Lewis E. Wheeler; and 1 Grandchild: Penny Kay Fox. Survivors include 1 Son: Raymond (Bonnie) Fox of Cookeville, TN; 6 Daughters: Sue (Charles) Pippin of Bloomington Springs, TN, Ruby (Roger) Anderson of Gainesboro, TN, Roslyn (Adriel) Stout of Cookeville, TN, Audrey (Kenneth) Anderson of Gainesboro, TN, Judy (Ray) Jones of Cookeville, TN, and Rosie (Jerell) Killian of Cookeville, TN; Grandchildren: Sherrie (Brad) Loftis, Alan (Tanda) Pippin, Jackie (Doak) Layne, Kathie (Mike) Driver, Tammie (Tim) Brown, Donna (Brian) Hall, John (Shanna) Anderson, Ashley (Ellen) Wheeler, Sonya (Jason) Anderson, Ronda Stout, Greg (Dalene) Anderson, Kim (Tim) Smith, Sandy (Stacy) Brewington, Christy (Kenny) Cobble, JR (Marlania) Jones, Shane Hawkins, Sam Hawkins, Kendall (Mike) Keller, and Heather (Roy) Jones; 47 Great Grandchildren; 27 Great Great Grandchildren; 1 Brother: Ermon C. Birdwell of Bloomington Springs, TN; 1 Sister: Ila Mae Anderson of Cookeville, TN; and 2 Special Sisters in Law: Rebecca Vinson and Eula Fox. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive. Bro. Johnny Fox, Bro. Greg Anderson, and Bro. John Anderson officiated at the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Rash Cemetery or the Fox Cemetery by contacting the funeral home. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of Mabry Health Care Center in Gainesboro for the kind and compassionate care shown to Mrs. Fox through the years.
