Norma Jean Smith

Funeral services for Mrs. Norma Jean Smith, 79, of Hilham, Tennessee, will be held at 1 P.M. on Saturday, November 28, 2009, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the New Hope Cemetery in the New Hope community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5 P.M. - 9 P. M., and Saturday from 11 A.M. until time of services. Mrs. Smith passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2009, at Mabry Health Care Center in Gainesboro, TN. She was born December 16, 1929, in Overton County, TN, to the late James Elmer and Annie Dale Thompson. On February 1, 1947, she was married to the late Howard G. Smith, who passed away November 8, 1999. She was a homemaker, and a retired cook. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 1 Son: Gerald Smith; 3 Sisters: Bessie Smith, Mary Lou Kattong, and Veachel Stringfellow; 3 Brothers: Freeman, Sherman and Clifton Thompson. Survivors include 4 Sons: Roger Smith of Cookeville, TN; and Phillip, Waymond, and Alan Smith, all of Hilham, TN; 1 Daughter: Ellen (Ralph) Bilbrey of Hilham, TN; 4 Sisters: Zilpah Barlow of Cookeville, TN, Ruby (Eugene) Smith of Rickman, TN, Villa (Billy) Maxwell of Hilham, TN, and Marcella (Robert) Lancaster of Livingston, TN; 10 Grandchildren; and 11 Great-Grandchildren.
