Nancy McNiel Wilson Gaw, age 87, passed from this life on May 14, 2016. She is preceded in death by her parents, Homer Thomas Wilson and Alice May Brackett Wilson; her husband of 60 years, Jack Stanton Gaw, Sr., whom she married June 22, 1948 in Norfolk, Virginia; and her brothers-in-law and sisters in law, Dr. J.C. Gaw (Helen), Sara Gaw Lynn (Sam), Betty Wisdom (Bill), Lloyd Gaw (Jeanette), Charles Gaw, and Dr. Billy Gaw. Nancy attended David Lipscomb College and Tennessee Tech University, where she received her Bachelor of Arts, Master's, and Ed.S degrees. Her majors were music and education. Nancy was an accomplished musician and artist. She taught music, art, and reading in the Jackson County School System. She also taught private piano, guitar, and voice lessons in her home. Her hobbies included oil painting and crafts. She was also a talented writer. Nancy served as a minister's wife who traveled with her husband to numerous gospel meetings and preaching appointments and taught Sunday school well into her 80's. She was a faithful member of the Zion Church of Christ. Nancy truly exemplified the virtuous woman described in Proverbs 31. She was loving, kind, and generous to all she met. Nancy is survived by her 2 Sons: Jack Stanton Gaw, Jr. (Dorinda) and Dr. Ted William Gaw (Janice); 6 Grandsons: Mark Stanton Gaw (Melanie), Jeffrey Austin Gaw (Jaclyn), Eric William Gaw (Lacey), Bradley Thomas Gaw (Sarah), Dr. Joel David Gaw, and Robert Daniel Gaw; 3 Great Grandchildren: Alex Mark Gaw, Jackson Lewis Gaw, and Savannah Kay Gaw; and Brothers - in - law and Sisters-in-Law: Doyle Gaw (Ranelle), Deanna Floyd, Dr. David Gaw (Patsy), and Linda Gaw. Pallbearers will be her 6 grandsons. Memorial contributions may be made to Happy Haven Children's Home, India Missions c/o Willette Church of Christ, or World Christian Broadcasting. Funeral services will be conducted at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN, on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at 11 A.M. Visitation will be Monday from 4 P.M. - 8 P.M., and Tuesday from 9 A.M. until time of services. Burial will be in the Rob Draper Memorial Cemetery. Bro. Dale Crossman and Bro.
