Myrtle Scott Phillips

Funeral services for Mrs. Myrtle Scott Phillips, 73, of Cookeville, Tennessee, will be held at 1 P.M. on Thursday, October 11, 2012, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Smith Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1 P.M. - 9 P.M., and Thursday from 9 A.M. until time of services. She passed away on Monday, October 8, 2012 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born August 16, 1939, in Jackson County, TN, to the late Morgan Lee Scott and Mamie Scott. On September 14, 1963, she was married to the late Thurman Phillips, who passed away January 1, 2006. She was a retired factory worker, and a member of the Whitson Chapel Church of Christ. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 1 Daughter: Lynda C. Phillips; 2 Brothers: Walton and Curtis Scott; and 2 Sisters: Sally Masters and Mary Pound. Survivors include 2 Daughters: Joyce (Carl) Green and Susan (John) Pearson, all of Cookeville, TN; 3 Grandsons: Jason (Lora) Wilton of Sparta, TN, Daniel Hunter of Cookeville, TN, and Ben Hunter of Cookeville, TN; 1 Great Grandson: Aaden Hunter of Dallas, TX; Special Family Member: Ken Hunter of Cookeville, TN; 5 Brothers: Odell (Marie) Scott, Jerry (Nancy) Scott, Hamp (Marie) Scott, Andy (Anna) Scott, and Richard Scott, all of Gainesboro, TN; and 3 Sisters: Carolyn (Wade) Burris of Gainesboro, TN, Cathy (Charles) Stafford of Cookeville, TN, and Matilda Stewart of Cookeville, TN. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive. Bro. Jimmy Anderson and Bro. Doyle Wilmoth will officiate at the services.
