Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred Lee Smallwood Elkins, 91, of Gainesboro, TN, will be held at 3 P.M. on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Pharris Cemetery in the McCoinsville community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4 P.M. - 8 P.M., and on Wednesday from 10 A.M. until time of services. She passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2016, at NHC Healthcare of Cookeville in Cookeville, TN. She was born October 8, 1924, in Jackson County, TN, to the late Doc Alexander and Nora Lee Smallwood. She was a housekeeper and cook and a member of the Center Grove Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 4 Brothers: Mark, Louis, Willard, and Carl Boyd Smallwood; 2 Sisters: Margaret Smallwood (Bill) Hensley and Peggy Smallwood Scott; 1 Brother-in-law: Earl Brown. Survivors include Her Husband: Robert "Bobby" Elkins of Gainesboro, TN; 1 Daughter: Shirley Wade (Jackie) Mathis of Gainesboro, TN; 3 Grandchildren: Shanna Mathis (John) Anderson, Jeremy Mathis, and Joshua Mathis all of Gainesboro, TN; 4 Great-Grandchildren: Titus (Brettianee) Anderson, Elijah Anderson, Norah Anderson, and Levi Anderson; 1 Brother: Morris R. (Darlene) Smallwood of Gainesboro, TN; and 1 Sister: Ruth Smallwood Brown of Sandusky, OH. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. Bro. Titus Anderson and Bro.
