Mildred Mahaney Allen

Mildred Mahaney Allen was born October 12, 1931, in Jackson County, TN and she passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at her residence in Gainesboro, TN, at the age of 91.

She was the daughter of the late Jim Mahaney and Martha Brown Mahaney. On January 1, 1962, she was married to the late Douglas Ray Allen, who passed away June 19, 1998. She was a retired cafeteria cook at Gainesboro Elementary School, and a homemaker. She was a member of the New Salem Church of Christ.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her Brothers: Buddy, Ernest, Homer, Ed, John D., Jack, Comer, and L.B. Mahaney; Sister: Willie M. Mabry; and 2 Great Grandchildren: an infant great granddaughter, and Jaxon Hackett.

Survivors include her Daughters: Diane Hopkins Hackett Dycus of Carthage, TN, Sherrie (Ken) McMillan of Gainesboro, TN, Jennie Loftis of Gainesboro, TN, and Melinda Steward of Gainesboro, TN; Grandchildren: Chasity Jenkins, Chad Hackett, Jason Loftis, Andrea Hix, Brittney Steward, Rebecca Birman; Great Grandchildren: Bailey Kemp, Wesley Kemp, Kiley Jenkins, Gavin Hackett, Colton Hackett, Lillie Letner, Maddie Letner, Aubree Steward, Sadie Hix, McKenna Birman, Bonnie Birman, Allie Loftis; and Special Friend and Neighbor: Kathy Martin. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at 10:30 A.M. at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home, with Jordan Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in the Allentown Cemetery in the New Salem community of Jackson County, TN. Visitation will be Friday from 2 P.M. – 8 P.M., and Saturday from 9 A.M. until time of services.
