There will be no visitation at the funeral home. She was born Sept 27, 1926, near Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee, and died on October 26, 2016, in Madison, Alabama, at the age of 90 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Ray Cason, who passed away 20 years ago. She is survived by sons: Jeff Cason (wife Marla) of Madison, Alabama and Joe Cason of Nashville, Tennessee; 4 grandchildren: Amber Wingfield of Jacksonville, Florida, Rhea Wenger of Smyrna, Tennessee, William Paul Cason of Nashville, Tennessee, and Andrea Hamilton of Vancouver, Washington; 2 great-grandchildren: Keenan Wingfield and Bailey Wenger; and 2 sisters: Alma Holloway of Simi Valley, California and Elizabeth Jenkins of Cookeville, Tennessee. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by 2 sisters, 2 brothers, and a half-brother and half-sister. Mrs. Cason was a mother and a registered nurse. She graduated from the University of Tennessee with her nursing degree in 1977. After working at St. Thomas Hospital in the cardiac care unit for about 15 years, she retired due to a back disability. She began pursuing family history research, which resulted in the accumulation of over 44,000 names through the lineage of her and her husband's family. She published a book of the 1870 census of Jackson County, Tennessee, which was the result of meticulously transcribing records at the State of Tennessee Archives and working with her son and daughter-in- law to get it published. A copy of the book can be found in the library of the State of Tennessee. After having lived in Nashville for almost 60 years, she moved to Madison, Alabama in 2011. She also lived in Chicago and St. Louis. She was a New Testament Christian, having obeyed the gospel in her teens. She worshipped with the Franklin Road church of Christ, which later became the Woodland Hills church of Christ after moving to a new location. At the time of her passing, she was a member of the Jordan Park church of Christ. The family would like to especially thank the leadership and staff of Madison Village Assisted Living and Valley View Rehabilitation and Nursing Care for their compassionate, patient attention to Mrs. Cason's needs the last 3 years. We would also like to thank the Barnes family and Mrs. Norma Jean Griffin for their compassion and comfort. Funeral Home Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home, Inc. 2131 S. Grundy Quarles Hwy. P.O.
