Michael DeFosche
Unknown – October 18, 2018
Michael DeFosche died suddenly at his home in Whitleyville, TN. He was 68 years old. Michael had a love of music, stemming back to his early teens, loving everything from rock and roll to bluegrass. His later years brought him to the Opry and his love for old time fiddle blossomed. In the 80's, he played fiddle and combined his vocal talents in a group called The Stillhouse Reelers. He later played back up musician on stage at the Grand Ole Opry to folks like Bob Douglas. He loved living simply, out in "the holler", in the backwoods of Whitleyville. He loved fly-fishing, and because of his catch and release belief, got to know most of the fish who resided in his stream! He became a member of the Audubon Society, as well as a falconer and committed himself to the rescue and rehabilitation of many birds of prey. His talents included not only playing guitar, banjo, and fiddle, but also restoring and building them. He was predeceased by his parents: Alfred and Rachel DeFosche. Survivors include a Brother: Alfred DeFosche and wife Sharon, of Cookeville, TN; a Sister: Cheryl DeFosche Cox of Clinton, CT; and Nieces: Meadow DeFosche Christ and husband David, of NC, and Rachel Cox Sackett and husband Gregory, of CT. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, November 4, 2018, at 2 P.M. in the chapel of Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN.
