Michael Bruce Christie, 58, of Dodson Branch Highway, Cookeville TN, passed away July 4, 2025, at his home with his family and friends by his side, after a long battle with cancer.


Michael was the son of William and Edythe Christie, born on December 13, 1966, in Beacon, New York. They later moved to Summit NY, where Michael and his family grew up, and in 1994 met his wife Tina, and were married on July 21, 2001. Michael was a Master Carpenter, took pride in his work and teaching and advising others. Michael joined the Summit Fire Department in 1991 and was very active with fires, accidents, rescues, building, training, and going to other counties to offer assistance. He was Fire Commissioner for 5 years, Lieutenant, Captain, and 1st and 2nd assistant Chief through his many years of service. During his time with the Fire Department, he was inspirational and spearheaded the expansion of the Fire House and made him a Veteran of the Fire Department. Michael was very active in the community, he was a member of The Summit Sno Riders, where he was President for several years. He was also a member of The Summit Conservation Club. Michael loved being outdoors and being with his children. In 2017, Michael and his family moved to Tennessee. He joined the Dodson Branch Freewill Baptist Church with his children. Michael loved collecting Jack Daniels bottles and Nascar.


He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lisa Ann and his nephew Derek Roe his Buddy Buckaroo.


Survived by his wife Tina, and his precious children Nicholas, Frederick, Nikkeya and Haylie. Brothers: William Christie Jr. (Debbie) of Summit, NY, James Christie (Cindy) of Downsville, NY, Carl Christie NY, Sisters: Patricia VanValen (Jim) of Kings Mt, NC, Debbie Clinton (George) of Highland, NY, Edie Cooke (David) of Yonkers, NY. Joeseph Carnevale (Julie) is Michael’s nephew, but they were more like brothers. Sister-in-law Josephine Krause (Charlie) of Worcester, NY. Michael shared a very special bond with all his nieces and nephews. Nephews: Vincent, Christopher, Alexander, Jonny, Joshua, and Jeremiah. Nieces: Vanessa, Taylor, Jenny, Avery, and Libby.


Michael chose cremation, and his family honored his wishes. Visitation will be on Saturday July 12, 2025, 12pm to 2pm and a Celebration of Life Service at 2pm at The Dodson Branch Freewill Baptist Church 285 Old Dodson Branch Road, Cookeville TN 38501.


For Family and Friends in New York there will be visitation on Saturday, July 19, 2025, from 1pm to 2pm and a Firemen’s Service at 2pm at the Summit Fire Department 2912 State Route 10 Summit, NY 12175.


In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be made to assist with funeral expenses by contacting the funeral home’s business office.
