Funeral services for Mr. Melvin Eugene Carmack, 84, of Gainesboro, TN, will be held at 2 P.M. on Thursday, May 14, 2015, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in Scott - Red Hill Cemetery in the Fairview community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4 P.M. - 9 P.M., and on Thursday from 9 A.M. until time of services. He passed away on Monday, May 11, 2015, at Livingston Regional Hospital in Livingston, TN. He was born October 7, 1930, in Clay County, TN, to the late Andrew Carmack and Dona Goolsby Carmack. He was married to Ruth Phillips Carmack, who survives. He was a retired merchant, electrician, and plumber, and of the Pentecostal faith. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his Wife: Anna Ruth Odum Carmack; 1 Sister: Dorothy Dailey; 2 Brothers: Daffo and Bobby Carmack; and 1 Stepchild. Survivors include his Wife: Ruth Phillips Carmack of Gainesboro, TN; 1 Son: Jackie (Amy) Carmack of Gainesboro, TN; 2 Daughters: Wanda Spivey and Sue (David) Sheperd, all of Gainesboro, TN; 3 Grandsons: Anthony Spivey, Jason (April) Spivey, and Roy (Liz) Sheperd; 1 Granddaughter: Tammy Jean Sheperd; 4 Great Grandchildren: A.J. Spivey, Alyssa Spivey, Mary Ann Sheperd, and Dewey Wayne Sheperd; 3 Step Children; 7 Step Grandchildren; and 10 Step Great Grandchildren. Bro. Jimmy Anderson will officiate at the services.
