Funeral services for Mattie Scantland, 64, of Gainesboro, Tennessee, will be held at 2 P.M. on Monday, March 29, 2010, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Peek Cemetery in the Harmony community of Jackson County. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 P.M. - 9 P. M., and Monday from 10 A.M. until time of services. She passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2010, in Putnam County, TN. She was born May 22, 1945, in Jackson County, TN, to the late George and Maggie Scantland. She was a factory worker and a member of the Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 Brothers: Jimmy and Johnny Scantland; 1 Sister: Frances Trisdale; and 2 Brothers-in-Law: Gene Trisdale and Odell Phillips. Survivors include 2 Sons: Billy Joe (Tanna) Strong of Corpus Christi, TX, and Jimmy (Rita) Strong of Gainesboro, TN; 4 Daughters: Tammy Anderson of Russellville, AR; Pam (Angelo) Crespo of Antioch, TN; Lisa (Don) Fleming of Portland, TN; and Brandy Poston of Hilham, TN; 4 Brothers: Ed (Martha) Scantland of Gainesboro, TN; Bob (June) Scantland of Warren, MI; Billy Scantland of Gainesboro, TN; and Charles (Virginia) Scantland of Livingston, TN; 1 Sister: Mae Phillips of Gainesboro, TN; Special Niece and Nephew: Brenda and Ronnie Henley of Cookeville, TN; 14 Grandchildren; and 2 Great-Grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Bro. Ronald Strong will officiate at the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Scantland family by contacting the funeral home.
