Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Nadean Smith, 84, of the Burristown community of Jackson County, Tennessee, will be held at 1 P.M. on Tuesday, December 15, 2009, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Lynn Cemetery in the Burristown community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends Monday from 4 P.M. - 9 P.M., and Tuesday from 9 A.M. until time of services. Mrs. Smith passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2009, at her residence. She was born March 15, 1925, in Overton County, TN, to the late T.T. "Boss" Huffines and Maudie Flatt Huffines. On March 19, 1947, she was married to the late James Luke Smith, who passed away July 28, 2006. She was a retired factory worker and homemaker. She was a member of the Poston's Chapel Community Church in the Burristown community. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 4 Brothers: Hobert, Howard, Clarence, and Fred Huffines; and 2 Sisters: Gertrude Smith and Edith Masters. Survivors include 2 Daughters and Sons-in-Law: Reita and Jerry White of the Dodson Branch community of Jackson County, TN, and Brenda and Bobby Scantland of Gainesboro, TN; 3 Grandchildren: Christy (Daniel) Kowalski of Cookeville, TN, Jeff Scantland of Gainesboro, TN, and Marty (Amanda) Scantland of Gainesboro, TN; 3 Great - Grandchildren: Jake Scantland, Jaryn Scantland, and Peyton Kowalski; and 1 Sister: Gwendola Garrett of Anderson, IN.
