Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Hix Smith, 68, of Cookeville, Tennessee, will be held at 2 P.M. on Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Dodson Branch Cemetery in the Dodson Branch community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 9 A.M. until time of services. She passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at NHC Health Care Center in Cookeville, TN. She was born February 3, 1943, in Jackson County, TN, to the late John Hix and Estelle McCoin Hix. On February 6, 1972, she was married to Mounce A. Smith II, who survives. She was a CNA at Mabry Healthcare Center, and a member of the Free State Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 1 Son: Mounce A. Smith III; 2 Sisters: Dorothy Jones and 1 Infant Sister; and 1 Brother: Lewis Hix. Survivors include her Husband: Mounce A. Smith II of Cookeville, TN; 3 Grandchildren: Kristin Paige Smith, Holly Elizabeth Smith, and Dustin Cain Smith, all of Gainesboro, TN; 1 Daughter-in-Law: Amanda Fox Smith of Gainesboro, TN; 2 Brothers: John Hix of Ashland City, TN, and Harold Odell Hix of Indianapolis, IN; 3 Sisters: Edith Brewington of Lebanon, TN, Georgia Matney of Knoxville, TN, and Paulette Warner of Castalian Springs, TN; and a Special Niece: Denise Loftis of Cookeville, TN. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive. Bro. Jimmy Anderson will officiate at the services.
