Mary Flatt Dudney

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Lena Flatt Dudney, 90, of the Free State community of Jackson County, Tennessee, will be held at 1 P.M. on Thursday, November 13, 2008, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Dudney Family Cemetery in the Free State community. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2 P.M. - 5 P.M. and from 6 P.M. - 9 P.M., and Thursday from 10 A.M until time of services. Mrs. Dudney passed away on Monday, November 10, 2008, at NHC Health Care in Cookeville, TN. She was born December 25, 1917, in Jackson County, TN, to the late Henry Franklin and Delia Birdwell Flatt. On May 9, 1942, she was married to the late Frank Lee Dudney, who passed away March 28, 1994. She was a former cafeteria employee at Gainesboro Elementary School, and a member of the Free State Church of Christ. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 4 Brothers: Benton M., Tom B., J.D., and Mitchell Flatt; and 5 Sisters: Clena Chaffin, Bertha Dorris, Lillie Birdwell, Eunice Lozon, and Rebecca Selestow. Survivors include 1 Daughter and Son-in-Law: Judy and Tim Chambers of Cookeville, TN; 1 Granddaughter and her husband: Cyndi and Josh Blackburn of Springfield, TN; 2 Sisters-in-Law: Elizabeth Flatt of Cookeville, TN, and Betty Flatt of Granville, TN; and 3 Sisters: Edna Roberts of Gainesboro, TN, Jessie Chaffin of Cookeville, TN, and Marie Hershburger of Michigan. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive. Bro. Ronald Strong and Bro. Randy Bybee will officiate at the services.
