Martin Eugene Deresky, Jr.

Martin Eugene Deresky, Jr. 81 of Cookeville in Jackson County, TN, passed away on May 7, 2024 while holding the hands of his 2 angels. Martin, fondly remembered as Marty or Dr. Leather, was born to Martin and Helena (Homovich) Deresky on October 3, 1942.

Marty was an avid classic car enthusiast, leather-crafter, a phenomenal musician with a unique talent on the accordion, and a long time member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 825.

Marty is survived by his two children; daughter, Lisa Maria Jennings, and her husband Ned, and son, Martin Michael Deresky; his ex wife and friend, Christine Whitaker; his two step-daughters, Angela Christine Warner-Logothetis and her husband, Daniel, and Jennifer Mae Davis, and her husband, Bradley; three brothers, Randall Deresky and his wife, Lois, Edward Deresky and his wife Amy, and Michael Deresky and his wife, Mary; his six grandchildren, several nieces and nephews as well as two great nephews and a great granddaughter.

Marty was predeceased by his parents, Martin and Helena (Homovich) Deresky; two brothers, Ronald Deresky and Thomas Deresky, one nephew Ricky Deresky, and his first wife, Bonnie Chudley.

There is a lot to be learned from a man who has lived as long as Marty. He has taught many people many things throughout those 81 years. His legacy is that of wisdom and guidance. He will be missed.

Visitation will be on Saturday, June 8, 2024, 11 am to 2 pm at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with memorial services beginning at 2 pm in the chapel with Bro. Mike Fox officiating.
