Martha Moss Spivey

Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Moss Spivey, 92, of Gainesboro, TN, will be held at 1 P.M. on Monday, November 20, 2017, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 P.M. - 8 P.M., and on Monday from 11 A.M. until time of services. She passed away on Friday, November 17, 2017, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, TN. She was born June 24, 1925, in Jackson County, TN, to the late Robert Lafayette Moss and Eliza Ann Smith Moss Young. On October 1, 1938, she was married to the late John Roger Spivey, who passed away March 3, 1995. She was a factory worker and volunteered at the Jackson County Archives, and was a member of the Stone Church of Christ. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 1 Sister: Sindia Moss Scantland and 1 Half-Sister: Sarah Moss Hix. Survivors include 1 Daughter: Patsy (George) Cassetty of Gainesboro, TN; 2 Grandchildren: Chris (Tina) Cassetty of Cookeville, TN and Terri (James) Murr of Manchester, TN; 6 Great-Grandchildren: Erik (Erica) Petersen of Tullahoma, TN; Jacqueline (Nicholas) Womack of Manchester, TN; Anna Petersen of Manchester, TN; Christina, Jonathan, and Benjamin Cassetty all of Cookeville, TN; and 2 Great - Great -Grandchildren: Torrey Anderson and Charlotte Petersen.
