Marjorie G. Mathis

Funeral services for Mrs. Marjorie G. Mathis, age 97, a resident of Gainesboro, TN, will be held Monday at 3 P.M. at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Rob Draper Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3 P.M. - 6 P.M., and on Monday from 2 P.M. until time of services. Mrs. Mathis passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2008, at Mabry Health Care and Rehab Center in Gainesboro, TN. She was born July 29, 1910, in Jackson County, TN, to the late John and Alsa Josephine Spurlock Mabry. On December 3, 1926, she was married to the late Cordell Hull Mathis, who passed away May 11, 1984. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Flynn's Lick Church of Christ. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 1 Son: Dr. Mabry Mathis; and 1 Brother: Andrew Mabry. Survivors include 1 Son and Daughter-in-Law: Dr. Charles and Jane Mathis of Russellville, KY; 1 Daughter and Son-in- law: Helen and Matt Forkum of Gainesboro, TN; 9 Grandchildren: Vicki Abernathy, Mark Forkum, Cathy Forkum Arms, Charlie Mathis, Steven Mathis, Janie Mathis, Mary Mathis, Donnie Anderson and Judy Riggs; 3 Great - Grandchildren: Beth Abernathy, Jo Ellen Abernathy, and Alexa Forkum; 1 Brother: Russell Mabry of MI; and 2 Sisters: Mildred Wire of Oklahoma and Martha Meadows of California.
