Marie Haney Johnson

Marie Haney Johnson passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at the age of 95. Up until the end Marie maintained her kindness, grace, compassion, appreciation of beauty, love of family and friends and expressed gratitude for her long life, full of wonderful and varied experiences. Marie was so proud of her family and was a mother to all, leaving a large void her family can’t fill.

Marie was the daughter of Troy B. Haney and Lina Zo Mayberry Haney. She was a member of Center Grove Church of Christ. She worked in the school cafeteria for a number of years at different schools in Jackson County. On May 26, 1950 she married Willie C. “Biss” Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Willie "Biss" Johnson who passed away on Dec. 31, 1979, son, Willie Clay Johnson, brothers, KB Haney, Charles Haney; sisters, Vena Cantrell, IV Byers, Cora Loftis and MB Ragland.

Survived by: son Mark (Dianna) Johnson of Crossville TN; grandchildren Angie (Yancey) Bilbrey of Buffalo Valley TN, Julie (Alex) Land of Cookeville TN, Brittany (John) Mullin and there son Jonathan of Gainesboro TN; hosts of great grandchildren, special family friend, Debbie Maynard of Cookeville TN along with nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 5, 4-8 pm and Wed. 11 am to 1 pm at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday August 6, 2025 at 1:00pm in the chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Anderson and Bro. John Mabry officiating. Burial will follow in Byers Cemetery.

Family ask she be surrounded by flowers in her name as she loved flowers.
