Margaret Bailey

Margaret Anderson Archer Bailey, a proud native of Gainesboro and longtime resident of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away on August 15th, 2021. Margaret was born September 15th, 1953 in Gainesboro, Tennessee to Dr. Bill Anderson and Katherine Baugh Anderson. Margaret was a talented singer and Grammy nominated songwriter. She began her music career with The Frazier Moss String-Band where she then met and became one of the founding members of The Cluster Pluckers, her musical family for over four decades. She performed alongside Chet Atkins, Vassar Clements, Johnny Cash, John Hartford and many others. Margaret is survived by her mother, Katherine Baugh Anderson, daughter Leah (Matt Slider and grandson Vandon), daughter Clara Sue Bailey, brother Tom (Kitty Anderson) and their children, her beloved nieces, Nora, Beth and Lucy Anderson Green. She was loved by so many and will be profoundly missed. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests a donation to the charity of your choice. Private family burial will be held at a later date.
