Maggie Meadows Brown

Funeral services for Mrs. Maggie Lou Meadows Brown, 96, of the New Salem community of Jackson County, Tennessee, will be held at 3 P.M. on Monday, October 8, 2007, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the New Salem Cemetery in the New Salem community of Jackson County. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5 P.M. - 9 P.M., and Monday from 11 A.M. until time of services. Mrs. Brown passed away on Friday, October 5, 2007, at Mabry Health Care Center. She was born October 3, 1911, in Bon Air, TN, to the late Walter DeWitt and Margaret Carol Cooley Meadows. On July 5, 1935, she was married to the late P.J. Brown, who passed away November 20, 1962. She was a cafeteria worker and a member of the New Salem Church of Christ. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 1 Son: Ray Kenneth Brown; 6 Sisters: Dolly Meadows, Delia Jones, Dovie Jones, Katherine Henson, Irene Spurlock, and Ruth Allen; and 3 Brothers: Dillard Meadows, Volner Meadows, and an infant brother. Survivors include 1 Daughter: Betty (Tommy) Pruett of the New Salem community of Jackson County, TN; 3 Granddaughters: Melissa Brown of La Vergne, TN, Angela Brown of Old Hickory, TN, and Dawn (Kris Ray) Pruett of Donelson, TN; 2 Great-Grandchildren: Maggie Sophia and Valen Pruett-Ray; and 2 Sisters-in-Law: Edith Flatt of Old Hickory, TN, and Margaret Turk of College Station, TX.
