Lucille Pippin Suggs

Funeral services for Ms. Lucille Pippin Suggs, of Cookeville Tennessee, will be held at 3 PM on Tuesday, June 15 at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow at the Union Hill - Flatt Cemetery in Bloomington Springs, TN. The family will receive friends on Monday from 4 PM - 9 PM and on Tuesday from 1pm until time of services. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and loved ones at her residence at Heritage Pointe Senior Living. She was born May 7, 1924, in Jackson County, TN to the late Jasper L. Pippin and Sarah E. Edmonds Pippin. She graduated from Jackson County High School and Nashville Business College. She was the owner of The Fabric Shop/Cookeville Drapery and Interiors for over 40 years. She was a member of the VFW and a former state president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was a devoted member of the McBroom Chapel Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Ed Suggs, who passed away in 1977, and Ralph Flatt, who passed away in 2007. She was also preceded in death by one son: Mark Suggs; 5 brothers: Otha, Boyd, Losier, Hermon and J. Fred; 5 sisters: Flora, Velma, Bessie, Stella and Bulah. Survivors include 1 son: Larry Suggs and Susan; 4 Grandchildren: April Dyer and Trevor, Kristin Christian, Matt Suggs and Angela, and Taylor Suggs and Destiny; and 10 Great Grandchildren. Throughout the years, Lucille was blessed by some incredible care givers who were loved like family. Thank you to Beverly Bush, Carla Wilson, The Heritage Pointe staff, Anita, Peggy, Tammy, Shelia and all who loved and cared for her. Her family will miss her potato salad, rum cake, banana bread, fried apples, fried chicken, fried okra, chocolate gravy, mac and cheese, sweet tea, waffles and brunswick stew. She was an amazing cook! Bro. Clarence Deloach, Bro. Bill Flatt and Bro. John Pippin will officiate the services. Memorial donations may be made to the McBroom Chapel Church of Christ rebuilding fund (destroyed by the tornado on March 3rd, 2020) by contacting the funeral home.
