Lorea Johnson Brown was born December 7, 1929 in Gainesboro, TN and she passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025, at The Waters of Gainesboro at the age of 95.
She was the daughter of Lattie Lee Johnson and Laura Pearl Whiteaker Johnson. Lorea married Harley Litton Brown, Sr. on December 6, 1947. They were married for over 40 years. She was a cafeteria worker at Jackson County High School and a dedicated homemaker. She was a member of the McCoinsville Church of Christ. She had a passion for church, her children and quilting. She loved being a mother. Her happiest times were when she had all 6 of her children together at the same time. Her favorite hobby was quilting. She put so much time and pride in the details and stitching of her many quilts. She was a member of the local quilting club where she enjoyed her time spent with the ladies of the group doing what she loved. Her quilts have won numerous awards over the years. Lorea loved tending to her hummingbird feeders and enjoyed watching the birds in her yard. All the hummingbirds in the area knew where to go.
Mrs. Lorea was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Harley Litton Brown Sr, who passed away Dec. 24, 1989; sisters: Thelma Willine Johnson, Mary Frances Davidson, Beatrice Spurlock, Virginia Dare Johnson, and Joyce Rose Mayberry and son-in-law: Jim Loggins.
Survivors include sons: Harley Litton (Rosemary) Brown, Jr. of Calhoun, GA, Kerry Michael (Traci) Brown of Bay Minette, AL, Kelly Johnson (Crystal) Brown of Gainesboro, TN; daughters: Pamela Elaine Lesikar of Nashville, TN, Miriam "Phyllis" (Ed) Smelser of Nashville, TN, and Sandra Brown Loggins of Nashville, TN; brother: Herbert Lee Johnson of Clearwater, FL; 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren along with several other relatives and friends also survive.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025, from 10 am to 2 pm at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, May 19, 2025, at 2 pm in the chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Pharris Cemetery.
