Laverne Harris

Funeral services for Mrs. Laverne Harris, 67, of Gainesboro, Tennessee, will be held at 2 P.M. on Friday, August 31, 2012, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Stacy Cemetery in the Old Antioch community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2 P.M. - 9 P. M., and on Friday from 9 A.M. until time of services. She passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Cumberland River Hospital in Celina, TN. She was born February 28, 1945, in Jackson County, TN, to the late Andrew Barnes and Virgie Stacy Barnes. On August 3, 1963, she was married to James E. Harris, who survives. She was a meat packer at Rudy Farms in Donelson, TN. She was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 Daughters: Janet L. Pope and Tammy S. Brabston; 1 Granddaughter: Tiffney Harris; 1 Brother: Roger D. Barnes; and 1 Sister: Shirley R. Barnes Newland. Survivors include her Husband: James E. Harris of Gainesboro, TN; 1 Son: Jerry E. Harris of Joelton, TN; 1 Brother: Danny (Shirley) Barnes of Gainesboro, TN; 3 Sisters: Phyllis Story of Lebanon, TN, Carol Myers of Gainesboro, TN, and Linda (Jim) Pearson of Gainesboro, TN; 6 Grandchildren; and 2 Great-Grandchildren.
