Funeral services for Lanita Parkhurst Kemp, 84, of Whitleyville, TN, will be held at 1 P.M. on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10 A.M. until time of services. She passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at Unity Medical Center in Manchester, TN. She was born July 16, 1934, in Red Boiling Springs, TN, to the late Loulas Leland Parkhurst and Selina Elizabeth (Bettie) Parkhurst. On March 13, 1954, she was married to the late Lovell Ward Kemp. She worked as an administrative assistant in the Jackson County school system, and was a homemaker. She was a member of the North Springs Church of Christ, and an avid gardener. She adored her family, and enjoyed being the matriarch. She also enjoyed cooking, and was a great cook. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 3 Brothers: Faulby Parkhurst, Roy Parkhurst, and Tommy Leland Parkhurst; 4 Sisters: Reba Jones, Oleda Thomason, Geneva Glass, and Freda Mitchell; 1 Grandson: Eric Parker; and 1 Son in Law: John Willis. Survivors include 3 Daughters: Cindy Kemp Parker and husband, Howard Parker; Sherri Kemp Willis and husband, Don Willis; and Betsey Kemp Willis; Grandchildren: Brandon Parker and wife, Sarah; Bethany Parker Addison, Kelsey Willis, Cory Willis and wife, Meagan; Evan Willis; Caleb Willis; Micah Willis; and Granddaughter in law: Terry Parker; Brother in Law: Kenneth Kemp and wife, Louise; and Sister in Law: Peggy Kemp Dycus Pharris.
