Kenneth D. Hall

January 16, 1935 – April 24, 2024

Age 89

Kenneth Duane Hall earned his wings on April 24, 2024, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center at the age of 89. He was born in Henry County Ohio to Lyman Ross Hall and Verena (Ward) Hall on January 16, 1935.

Kenny was a barber in Napoleon for 45 years, adding a shoe repair business in the back room of the barbershop in the later years, and retired from Culligan Water. On April 11, 1954, he married Jacqueline Mullett, and they shared 75 year together. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Napoleon, Ohio.

His Legacy… Kenny was a fun-loving guy; with his uncanny wit, hearty laugh, and a big smile on his face, he was able to light up a room wherever he went. It was not uncommon to be walking by his Freytag/Hall basement barbershop and be able to hear his infectious laugh all the way up on the sidewalk above. He met his soul mate Jackie Mullett in eighth grade, and they became High School sweethearts. He graduated from Napoleon High School in 1953, went on to Barber school in Toledo, and married Jackie in 1954. He was an astute dancer in his early years and he and Jackie could really “Cut a Rug”. He was an amateur fastpitch softball catcher as a young adult and spoke of the great thrill it was to have had a chance to catch a couple of the late Elmer Rohrs’ pitches. He was a Little League umpire in the 1960’s and played Old Timers Football in the 1970’s even though he was closing in on his 40’s. He was an enthusiastic supporter of Napoleon athletics while living in Napoleon with season tickets to both the football and basketball programs. He was not biased against those sports however, and it was not often you would walk into their house and not have a game of some sort on the television. He was an ardent Euchre player and loved to play Checkers and Cribbage. He and Jackie resided in Clear Lake, Indiana for many, many years. He loved to entertain at their cottage on the lake and often drove the boat all weekend pulling skiers, wake boarders, and tubers. He thrived in the joy and fun he was providing for others. In his later years, he became a seasoned sailor, even owning three sailboats at one time! He was an avid bowler and bowled in several leagues over the years and played in countless bowling tournaments. He also was a devoted Bible reader and was able to read it quite a few times cover to cover. He was a great lover of animals and had many furry companions throughout his lifetime. He brought tremendous happiness and laughter to whomever he met, and never knew a stranger. After retirement he and Jackie sold their Clear Lake property and moved to Tennessee near their youngest son. In Tennessee he made many new friends and of course he kept them all entertained with his smile and humor. He lost the ability to walk when he was in his 80’s, but his sharp mind and keen wit kept everyone on their toes and his laughter never waned.
