Joyce Pharris

Joyce Pharris was born on June 4, 1944, in Cookeville, TN and passed away at NHC of Cookeville on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the age of 81.

Joyce was the daughter of Derbert Lee Martin and Rebva Neil Kirby Martin. She was a member of the Baptist Church. Joyce was the wife of the late James Eldon Pharris. She loved being a wife, mother, and grandmother to her many grandchildren. She enjoyed doing numerous crafts especially paint by number kits.

She was preceded in death by her: parents, husband: James Eldon Pharris; son: James Pharris Jr., Michael Eldon Pharris; sisters: Christina, Nora, Patricia, Marya, Iline, Phyllis; grandson: Billy Dale Pharris, Jr., and Jeffery Wayne Adcox, Jr.

Joyce is survived by her sons: Billy Pharris of Centerville, TN, Landon (Lilly) Pharris of Nashville, TN; daughters: Karen Adcox of Bowling Green, KY, Sue (Chuck) Thackston of Cookeville, TN, Dora (Ronnie) Simpson of Cookeville, TN; sisters: Charline Sellers of Jackson, TN, Lisa Collins of AL, Beverly Madewell of Westmoreland, TN; grandchildren: Nicole Diel of KY, Alex Thackston of TN, Tyler (Cindy) Simpson of TN, Chelsey Pharris of TN, Tanner (Abby) Pharris of TN, Landon Pharris Jr. of TN, Brandon (Mandy) Pharris of TN, Kansas Pharris of TN and 12 great-grandchildren. Numerous other relatives and friends also survive.

Visitation will be held on Saturday September 13, 2025, 5 pm till 8 pm and again on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at 9 am till 1pm in the chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Billy Pharris officiating. Burial will follow in John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery.
