Johnny Pippin

Age 90

Johnny William Pippin was born July 11, 1933, in Jackson County, TN and he passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, TN at the age of 90.


He was the son of the late Tom C. Pippin and Zella D. Chaffin Pippin. He married Ms. Jewell D. Allen in 1953.  He worked in the sawmill industry and was a logger.  He was the Sheriff of Jackson County from February 1972 until June 1972.  Also, Johnny was an employee of the Jackson County Road Department.  He was instrumental in helping organize and implement the Jackson County Rescue Squad.  Johnny served Jackson County as a County Commissioner for 45 years.  Johnny attended the Shiloh Church of Christ. 


Preceded in death by his parents: Tom and Zella Pippin; son: Gary Pippin; brother: Henry Pippin; sister: Linda Wade; and grandson: Shane Pippin.


Survivors include his wife: Jewell Pippin; sons: Johnny (Tena) Pippin of Whitleyville, TN, Gerald (Linda) Pippin of Cookeville, TN; daughter: Kathy (Chris) Maranta; brothers: Roy Pippin and Dewey (Nancy) Pippin of Cookeville, TN; grandchildren: Dewayne Pippin, Brandy Pippin, Jeremy Pippin, Jonathan Pippin, Taylor Miller, Shalyn Pippin, Will Pippin, and Bobby Dale Pippin; great grandchildren: Kayden Pippin, Jocelyn Pippin, Emmitt Pippin, Kayley Stewart, Ava Roberts, Gavin Steinbrenner and Blain Steinbrenner.  Numerous cousins and other family members along with friends also survive. 


Visitation will be on Friday, June 14, 2024, 4-8 pm and again on Saturday, June 15, 2024, from 10 am to 12 pm at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 12 pm in the chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the John Young Cemetery.
